Nate passou a preferir os contos de fadas, a verdade é que ninguém deveria precisar aprender a viver depois que o pesadelo acaba, mas esse é um processo do qual ele não tem escolha. Anos após ser resgatado de uma relação abusiva que transformou sua casa em um cativeiro, e ter passado um longo período em um instituto psiquiátrico, Nate continua tentando fingir que voltar, aos poucos, à "normalidade" não é nada demais... Spencer, um agente da polícia especializado em casos como o de Nate, considerado um gênio por muitos, foi quem o encontrou, acompanhou a investigação e se recusou a abandoná-lo quando tudo terminou. Ou deveria ter terminado. Foi o responsável por levá-lo até o instituto em que sabia que Murilo trabalhava. Um ex-colega da faculdade de Psicologia, uma das formações de Spencer, que se tornou um desafeto rapidamente por discordâncias acadêmicas, apesar de Spencer ainda vê-lo como uma referência profissional. Murilo nunca foi dado a informalidades, mas algo em Nate o fez balançar. Afastou-se quase imediatamente, temendo que a ética profissional fosse comprometida ao tornar o interno um "amigo", ou ao menos era o que tentava fazer. Quando a situação ficou insustentável, retirou-se do projeto, abrindo a própria clínica. Não poderia permitir que seus sentimentos, mesmo não correspondidos, atrapalhassem a seriedade do tratamento de um interno. Contudo, não esperava que a proximidade com Spencer, após um acidente, e a morte do monstro que assombrava o passado de Nate os aproximaria. Aos poucos, uma relação síncrona formou-se entre a tríade. E o rapaz teve permissão para, aos poucos, adaptar-se a uma vida fora do instituto, o que seria viável com a ajuda de VegasPete, e para passar alguns dias na casa dos "amigos". É sobre esses fins de semana, momentos em que, aos poucos, a relação dos três se tornou mais forte. É hora de saber se Nate, que antes distribuía maçãs como a Bruxa Má, finalmente conseguirá guardar
